About this place
At Momonji, the offal arrives already grilled on skewers, so diners do not have to cook it themselves. One visitor appreciated being able to leave the cooking to the restaurant and noted that the portions are modest, making it easy to sample several cuts. The menu includes skirt steak, premium tongue, liver, small intestine, premium tripe, honeycomb tripe, large intestine and cheek. Another visitor enjoyed assorted skewers of cuts such as crunchy offal, tripe, honeycomb tripe, akasen and small intestine. Skewers can reportedly be ordered one at a time, too, allowing diners to try whichever cuts catch their eye.
Between skewers, try a small plate such as stewed offal, seared beef tongue or wagyu tendon with ponzu. There are other small dishes as well, adding different flavours to a meal centred on grilled skewers. For a more substantial serving of meat, options include grilled wagyu skirt steak and a steak of premium beef tongue. To finish, choose from Momonji’s dashi ochazuke, grilled rice balls or tail curry doria. The meal can take shape according to your appetite and mood.
Drinks include draft beer, highballs, lemon or lime chu-hai, red and white wine by the glass, and shochu. Order a few different skewers with small plates and rice dishes, or take your time over the skewers with a drink.
